Forest and fire authorities, which are trying to protect Hahoe Village and Byeongsan Seowon in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province, which are UNESCO World Heritage sites, handed over the Han Gobi as the forest fire retreated in a different direction. However, forest authorities still remain on the fence just in case.

According to forest authorities on the 26th, the forest fire that began on the 22nd in Uiseong was close to Hahoe Village, once located in Pungcheon-myeon, Andong-si, on the afternoon of the 25th.

At 11 p.m. on the 25th, the red light was faintly seen in the distant mountains, and Hahoe Village was in turmoil.

At 4:55 p.m. on the 25th, a resident evacuation order was issued in Hahoe Village, and some residents evacuated to the urban-rural exchange center or to other areas, and some residents stayed and watched the situation.

Firefighters guarding the village waited in the cold night breeze as the temperature fell, unable to relax for a moment.

However, it seems that the forest fire was no longer approached until the dawn of the 26th, so it was over.

In Hahoe Village, 10 fire engines and 50 firefighters were on standby to prepare for the spread of forest fires. Fire authorities deployed eight additional equipment, including multiple rocket launchers, and 27 personnel to Hahoe Village overnight to prevent forest fire damage.

About 150 residents live in Hahoe Village, mainly Poongsan Ryu Clan. The village was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010 as many tile-roofed houses and thatched houses remain, and traditions, including Confucian culture, are preserved intact.

The "Hahoebyulshin Guttalnori" played by ordinary people and the "Seonyu Julbulnori" played by scholars have been handed down to this day.

Four fire engines were also prepared to spray water overnight around Byeongsan Seowon, which is close to Hahoe Village.

Byeongsan Seowon was included in one of Korea's nine seowon by the World Heritage Committee in 2019 and was listed as a World Heritage Site. A fire official said, "The fire has not come over to Seowon, but we are continuing to prepare."
