A total of 3562 tons of high-quality rice seeds were harvested from seven countries last year through the "K Rice Belt" project, which spreads Korean agricultural technology to Africa.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs said on the 27th that it harvested 3,562 tons of rice from Senegal, Gambia, Ghana, Cameroon, Uganda, Kenya, and Guinea. The K-Rice Belt is a project aimed at increasing rice production and increasing food self-sufficiency in African countries, and ultimately aims to contribute to addressing hunger.

Last year's harvest was up 53% from 2321 tonnes in 2023, the first year of the business, and exceeded its original target of 3000 tonnes. Rice production is also 4 tons per hectare, 67% higher than existing local varieties, which is expected to further expand demand for K seeds.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs plans to expand the K rice belt business to Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, and Guinea-Bissau.
