On the 27th, the Supreme Court's first division (Chief Justice Shin Sook-hee) confirmed the original ruling, which sentenced A, a spouse of Mokpo Mayor Park Hong-ryul, to one year and six months in prison and suspended for three years. As a result, Mayor Park immediately lost his position as mayor. Article 264 of the Public Official Election Act stipulates that if the spouse of the elected person is sentenced to a fine of more than 3 million won for inducing invalidity of the election, the election of the elected person should be invalidated.

On the same day, the Supreme Court's first division (Chief Justice Roh Tae-ak) confirmed the original ruling, which sentenced Shinan County Governor Park Woo-ryang to two years in prison for obstructing the exercise of rights and damaging public documents. As a result, Governor Park also lost his position.

From this day on, Mokpo-si and Sinan-gun will enter the acting system.
