Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, said, "The court will sort it out well," ahead of the final hearing on the appeals court that concludes the violation of the Public Official Election Act.

Representative Lee Jae-myung told reporters before attending the hearing held by the Seoul High Court's Criminal Chamber 6-2 on the morning of the 26th, "Everything that is said to be the will of the world is bound to go according to common sense and principles."

Representative Lee did not answer the question, "How do you expect the prosecution's sentence?" and headed to the court.

Jeong Joon-hee, an adjunct professor of information and social media at Hanyang University and Kim Sung-cheon, a professor of law at Chung-Ang University, respectively, will appear as witnesses at the fifth hearing, which will be held earlier in the day.

In the 6th trial, which follows in the afternoon, a final trial will be held in which the prosecution's sentence and representative Lee's final statement will be made.

Sentencing is expected as early as the end of next month.

In a broadcast interview in December 2021, when Lee was a Democratic presidential candidate, he was indicted on charges of publicizing false information by saying that he did not know the late Kim Moon-ki, former head of Seongnam Urban Development Corporation's development department.

It is also suspected of making false remarks that there was pressure from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport regarding the change of the use of the site of the Korea Food Research Institute in Baekhyun-dong, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do.

On November 15 last year, the first trial court sentenced Kim to one year in prison and two years of probation for acknowledging his remarks to the effect that he did not play golf with Kim and Baekhyun-dong's remarks as false disclosures.

If this sentence is confirmed, it constitutes a loss of parliamentary seats, and representative Lee will be deprived of his right to run for the next 10 years.

The second trial court previously asked the prosecution to change the indictment with the intention of specifying the prosecution's charges related to CEO Lee's false remarks, and the prosecution changed the indictment accordingly.
