The Sancheong and Hadong wildfires, which have exceeded a week, are expected to be the biggest watershed on the 28th. Fire authorities are making all-out efforts to control the main fire even with the smallest amount of rain and high humidity that fell the day before, taking advantage of the slowing spread of the fire.
According to the Korea Forest Service and South Gyeongsang Province, the forest fire is largely divided. It is toward Okjong-myeon in Hadong in the south and Jirisan National Park in the north.
By this morning, Hadong Okjong-myeon had undergone considerable evolution, and virtually all Hwaseon was captured. As a result, the total number of hwaseon was reduced from 16km the day before to 5km as of noon that day. The evolution rate has risen to 93%.
Fire authorities are focusing equipment such as helicopters and fire trucks and extinguishing personnel on Jirisan National Park to extinguish the fire.
The fire at Jirisan National Park approached Cheonwangbong Peak, the summit of Jirisan Mountain, within 4km as a straight line. In particular, Deoksansa Temple and Gwaneumsa Temple, which are 1,000 years old, are located in the expected path of the fire.
In response, the fire authorities deployed a total of 240 equipment, including 10 sprinklers and 182 fire engines, and 1,230 firefighters to build a defense line from the night before.
Since this morning, the fire authorities have deployed a total of 43 helicopters and 234 extinguishing equipment such as fire trucks to focus on extinguishing them. In addition, the government is mobilizing all available equipment, including three animal quarantine and control machines and 10 private rental sprinklers.
So far, 543 residents in 374 households in Sancheong-gun and 1,097 in 608 households in Hadong-gun have been evacuated, and a total of 1,640 people in 982 households have fled to 18 locations.
Facility damage is also 74 places, including 28 houses, 2 factories, and 2 religious facilities. Two more greenhouses and warehouses in Hadong were burned down overnight.
Park Myung-kyun, vice governor of the administrative department of Gyeongsangnam-do Province, said during a blip at the field command center, "The Hadong area has made significant progress the day before. Today, we will focus on extinguishing by strongly building a defense line and mobilizing all resources to prevent the spread of forest fires in Jirisan."
